Driving From Maine To Boston On Labor Day Weekend

The best time to catch the leaves at their most glorious is generally between late September to mid-October. But differing weather each year may alter this slightly.

Amtrak to Portland. The Amtrak Downeaster takes 5 daily roundtrips from Boston’s North Station to Brunswick, Maine starting at 8:30 am. The trip via Amtrak takes about 2.5 hours with several stops along the way. Train fares vary by destination but cost anything from $3-30 depending on the level of the ticket.

Stop 1: Salem MA (20.2 miles via US-1N) Stop 2: Rockport MA (20.1 miles via MA-128 N) Stop 3: Hampton Beach in Hampton NH (36.9 miles via MA-133 W) Stop 4: Portsmouth NH (13.6 miles via NH-1A N/Ocean Blvd) Stop 5: York ME (10 miles via 95 N) The MBTA has released the following information regarding Labor Day weekend travel on Monday, Sept. 6: All subway and commuter rail lines, buses, trackless trolleys, and commuter rails will operate on a Sunday schedule. There will be no ferry service on the F1 (Hingham – Boston). All other ferry lines will operate on a weekend schedule.
